| Fish were quite spread-out and could be observed rising in shadier areas of the lake. Most takes were abrupt and the fish fought quite well considering the warmer water temperatures and bright conditions. Today's fishing required long, light leaders (4 and 5 pound-test)and accurate casts, as the flat-calm conditions seemed to elevate the wariness of the trout. Sight casting to rising fish proved to be the best tactic. Takes were fairly soon after the fly landed and was retrieved with a fast-paced figure-of-eight, hand-twist. Floating lines worked best, while a slow-intermediate would likely have produced just as well. All in all, a great way to end the workday and to cool down...
